Prompt: Under the stars

A/N: It’s been MONTHS since i’ve written fanfiction, i’m not” A++ material” but here it goes. For Jackofthewatertribe :D

The sound of panting is heard from a distance, as Sokka was running towards Toph.

“Toph, please we need to talk!” Sokka screamed.

“Just get out of here Sokka!”“Leave me alone!” as she ran through the forest.

He continues his sprint into the forest, however he slowly decreases his sprint to a jog and then to a complete stop. Panting hard and beads of sweat dripped down his face, he takes a seat under a fig tree.

“Stupid, stupid,STUPID!” ”Why did I say that to her?” He mentally smacked himself for his ignorance.

Sokka began to massage his temples from the migraine he had earlier. He didn’t know why she was so angry at him. What did he do wrong? …..

-30 Minutes ago-

“You know Toph, forget those two love birds!” “It’s just gonna be our day, just you and me!” As Sokka hooked his arm around Toph’s petite body frame.

Toph’s cheeks lit up a bright rose, as his muscular arm melted around her hips.

“Our own day?” She thought, she lowered her head hiding her flushed cheeks.

“So Snoozles, what are we going to do ?” She questioned.

She could feel him next to her. He’s body was naturally warm, and she felt like she was safe in his arms. He accepted her for who she was, and that what she loved about him.

She stood there blindly staring at the ground as Sokka walked towards a tree.

“Oh yeah hehe forgot that you’re blind.” Sokka fidgeted his way towards her.

“C’mere, sit next to me!” Sokka grabbed her arm and sat under the fig tree.

She jolted towards him, and plopped a seat next to him. He wrapped his arm over her neck, Crimson flared on her cheeks. she knew he was staring at her,but for what reason? She felt his heartbeat, slow and soothing to her ears. She relaxed herself into his arms.

He stared at her milky green eyes. ”She looks different, something changed?” “Her hair? He eyes roamed up and down to see how the silky long hair wrapped around her shoulders. her body was changing, soon he began that she was snuggling against him, listening to his heartbeat. Sokka saw the little body below him, as her chest began to rise and sink from the rhythm of her breathing. 

“You’re so beautiful Toph.” He blushed at the thought of her.

“WAIT WHAT ,TOPH IS MY FRIEND ,SHE ONLY 16.” Sokka coughed to break the silence between them. 

“Sokka you didn’t answer my question?” Toph interrogated

He lost his train of though as her sweet voice filled him with joy.

“Oh yeah, I know a place where me and Suki used to go to uh-“

She twitched of the sound  of her name, she knew that broke it off long ago, and she didn’t want to become his rebound girlfriend. 

“Where he did what,with who?!” She knew he didn’t like her, he still banged up about Suki.

“Toph, stop, don’t cry.” but soon enough , tears began falling and she choked a sob to catch his attention.

He stared into her milky orbs, as tears began to stream down her face.

“To-Toph, Whats wrong, why are you crying?”

“Sokka- I can’t.” 

“Can’t what Toph, speak to me?”

“Just Leave me alone.”

“Toph.”

She got up and started sprinting away from him. Tears fell from her eyes, she didn’t know where she was going ,but it had to be away from him. She kept running, she didn’t care anymore.

“Stupid Sokka always messes everything up!” she began to pant and choke on her sobs. she slowed down her pace towards the forest in front of her. Soon she began to walk,taking in the breathe of air that she needed.

“Oh no.” Toph knew those footsteps anywhere.The vibrations were getting closer and closer to her. “He’s running after me?” She had to run, she didn’t wanna hear him anymore, she was tired of the oblivious man that loved,but she was completely out of breathe.

Sokka spotted her in the distance,and began charging at her. Every heartbeat seemed to slo him down but he had to push through for her.

“Toph wait, what’s wrong!” He yelled.

Toph began chunking rocks towards Sokka,flinging earth bits towards the man.

“Woah Toph, stop you- You’re gonna hurt me.” Sokka ducked and slid his way around the chunks of earth.

“YOU DON’T SAY?” She retorted 

“Toph , please we need to talk.”

—PRESENT—

“She won’t make it out there, I have to go get her.” Sokka jumped on his heels and began running towards her. He saw her footsteps trailed to a small hill. He knew that he had her.She seem at peace, slowly breathing as her tears dried on her face. she still was choking on her sobs, mumbling under her breathe. Sokka saw Toph fidget as he got closer to her. She stood up and was prepared to run.

“WAIT!” Sokka yelled, Toph froze, as Sokka grabbed her shoulder. She felt his heartbeat grow faster as he grabbed her.

“Toph, I’m tired of running, just hear me out please.” Sokka began to shake.

She turned towards him, tears filled her eyes once more.

“Toph, why- why did you run away? and start to cry?” ” Please tell me.”

“Sokka- si-sit down please.” She slowly sat down on the ground.

Sokka stood there confused and sat down.

“Sokka can I ask you something..?”

“Anything.”

“What are stars?”

Sokka sat there in confusion, he was stuck, he didn’t know if she was staling. 

“Well, a star-well uhh stars” He began to ramble.

“When I was little my house keeper would tell me about the stars that glittered in the night.” “She said that stars where little diamonds that sparkled in the night.” Toph interupted.

“Yeah, back home stars used to help me find my way home.” ” You could make designs and patterns out of the stars at night.”

“Really?”

“Yeah, there’s you, right there.” Sokka pulled her wrist and pointed at the area.

“There are your beuatfiul face and smile..” He moved her hand to trace the image in the sky.

“Your adorable nose.” Toph face painted a new color around her cheeks.

Sokka nelt down to her ear, 

“Your beautiful jade colored eyes” He whispered.

Toph felt his warm spread down her neck.

“Toph, I care about you, with all my heart, I would never hurt you.”

“Sokka-“

The wind began to pick up, blowing her bangs out of her face. The pale skin fitted with her jade eyes. Silk raven hair curved around her face as a light touch of rose  appeared around her cheeks.

“Sokka, I  have a confession.” Toph took a deep breath and closed her eyes. She opened them and turned towards Sokka, and reached her hands and layed them on top of his.

“Sokka, I was mad because I thought you didn’t care for me, like - like the way I- I do for you.”

Sokka heart pounded, and sat there in awe. “Does that mean..- that she like me back?”


“I care about you Toph, everyday since I’ve met you.”

She knew he wasn’t lying, he was at his clearest state, his heart rate was rising after every word that left his lips. Toph stared blindly towards his direction.

“Toph, I also have a confession.” Sokka began rubbing his plams , beads of sweat appeared. He was nervous, just like at the invasion, his heartbeat began to speed up. Toph nodded in her approval towards his confession.

“Don’t mess this up Sokka. Help me Yue.” He Prayed.

“Toph-” Sokka moved his hand under her chin, lifting her chin, He leaned  down, his lips nearly touching hers. “I Love you.”he whispered. Sokka softly kiss her lips,Toph blushed furiously and sat in shock ,  she kissed him back, moved her arms behind his neck deeping the kiss. The kiss was so light and warm and just like that, it ended.

“I Love you too Snoozles.”
